Wildlife of Kenya

The very first time I visited Kenya in August 2022, I knew I was in trouble. Having almost exclusively photographed domestic dogs in the two years proceeding that trip, I suddenly had a whole host of wild subjects in front of my lens and the Masai Mara quickly became my outdoor classroom and its wildlife my teachers. Continuing to spend a great deal of time there since, I am constantly schooled in the craft of wildlife photography by each encounter I have, even if it doesn’t always yield results. I believe the key to a great wildlife image lies in the skill of observation - remember to put down the camera frequently, watch and learn. Many of the images in my portfolio show a variety of Kenyan fauna situated within varied landscapes from open plain grassland, to marsh, dense croton bush, rocky outcrops and dusty riversides in the Masai Mara, Mugie Conservancy, and Amboseli National Park. My work depicts a mixture of action, moments at rest, gruesome encounters and dramatic moments of unparalleled beauty - all the result of observing first, documenting later.
